Demand for rebar overall in the US is not reportedly robust, but sources mainly attribute the quiet market to the annual summer slow season. However, other sources say rebar buyers in the US are still turning to domestic mills and showing little interest in import offers, which are still not too far below domestic spot prices.

This week, US import rebar offers have maintained at last week’s levels, although sources say further small downticks might be possible in the near-term. Until then, US import rebar offers from Algeria are still around $38.00-$39.00 cwt. ($838-$860/mt or $760-$780/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while Mexican rebar offers are still at $41.50-$42.50 cwt. ($915-$937/mt or $830-$850/nt) DDP Houston.
