With no cohesive global trend in rebar prices, offer prices for US import rebar are stable in some regions and soft in others this week. Offers from Algeria and Egypt are still in the range of $36.50-$37.50 cwt. ($805-$827/mt or $730-$750/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, although sources tell SteelOrbis that current conflict in the Middle East could affect import rebar offers, especially from Egypt, if the situation worsens.

US import rebar offers from Mexico, meanwhile, have declined week-on-week in tandem with Mexican domestic offers. Import rebar from Mexico is now being offered to the US around $37.50-$38.50 cwt. ($827-$849/mt or $750-$770/nt) DDP Houston, compared to $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP Houston last week.
