Now that current orders for US import rebar are well into Q1 2024 arrival—historically a busy stock-up season—sources say they are surprised that import activity is not more robust. Buyers are apparently continuing to source much of their material from domestic mills, although that trend could change if US domestic rebar prices start to rise after a long period of soft stability.

For now, sources report that US import rebar offers are unchanged week-on-week, with offers from Algeria and Egypt still in the range of $36.50-$37.50 cwt. ($805-$827/mt or $730-$750/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. US import rebar offers from Mexico are also stable this week at $37.50-$38.50 cwt. ($827-$849/mt or $750-$770/nt) DDP Houston.
