Inquiry activity within the US import rebar market is tepid again this week, as buyers continue to get needs met from the domestic market. With US scrap prices expected to drop again next month, US domestic rebar prices are expected to trend softer, leaving few buyers interested in booking import orders.

While rebar prices are soft globally, import offer prices in the US are basically unchanged from last week due to the low interest. As such, US import rebar offers from Algeria are still ranging from $41.00-$42.00 cwt. ($904-$926/mt or $820-$840/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, and offers from Mexico are still at $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,104/mt or $900-$920/nt) DDP Houston.
