Turkey local and export wire rod prices have moved sideways this week, partly due to the firmness of scrap prices. Moreover, market sources indicate that there is a certain lack of wire rod availability in the Iskenderun region. As a result, Turkish mills in this part of the country have not announced any wire rod prices this week, claiming they are fully booked. It is reported that local wire rod buyers in Iskenderun have been conveying their orders to the other regions of Turkey, creating additional demand for suppliers in those other regions.
On the export side, most Turkish wire rod offers for end of November-December production are still coming at $445-450/mt FOB. Additionally, some Turkish mills have stopped quoting for exports as their order books are full, SteelOrbis understands.
