Turkish merchant bar export prices soften

Friday, 10 January 2025 16:37:31 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Over the past two weeks, most Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have cut their official export prices by $10/mt to $580-610/mt FOB. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are standing at $580-610/mt FOB, for February-early March shipment. A few merchant bar re-rollers are even testing slightly below $580/mt FOB for serious buyers only, SteelOrbis has heard. The main reason is the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments.

Most international buyers are taking their time before concluding new purchases, while monitoring the import scrap price trend.

The SteelOrbis daily Turkish import billet reference price stands at $455-480/mt CFR, versus $460-490/mt CFR two weeks ago.
