As international rebar demand remains sluggish, Turkey’s export prices have weakened over the past week but deals are still rare. Most Turkish rebar export offers are at $410-415/mt FOB, versus $415-420/mt FOB earlier, while some sellers are ready to accept lower levels. According to sources, 10,000-15,000 mt of once-folded rebar were traded to Ethiopia at $405/mt FOB. In addition, the same price were offered last week to Senegal. The domestic market in Turkey remains livelier compared to exports, with offers in the Izmir and Marmara regions at $418-422/mt ex-works. This week Kardemir opened its rebar sales but has managed to sell only 5,000 mt so far at $418/mt ex-works due to low demand in the region.

In the wire rod segment, Turkey’s export offers have also dropped by $5/mt to $430-440/mt FOB for now, mainly for late July-August shipments. No fresh sales have been heard.
