Local Turkish wire rod prices have risen by $70-100/mt to $1,020-1,100/mt ex-works, being mostly for May delivery, amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and the positive sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments. According to sources, one Izmir-based mill has closed its wire rod sales for now.
One Iskenderun-based mill raised its official wire rod price by $100/mt to $1,100/mt ex-works for May delivery yesterday. Another mill in the region has remained closed for wire rod sales.
Turkish wire rod buyers are cautious regarding new purchases amid currency fluctuations and rapid wire rod price hikes.
