Domestic wire rod prices in Turkey have skyrocketed over the past week by $40-55/mt depending on the region, with higher scrap prices and better local and export demand being the key reasons. Local mills are mainly positive regarding the possible effects of the tax rebate cancellation in China. Some mills in the Iskenderun region have announced they will stop quoting until May 17, expecting higher prices. Most Turkish mills are offering for July production, while limited tonnages of some sizes are available from stocks.
