Turkish domestic wire rod prices decrease amid sluggish demand

Currently, Turkish suppliers are applying aggressive pricing to generate sales against the backdrop of relatively negative sentiment in the import scrap segment and sluggish demand. Most suppliers are still offering for January delivery, while a limited tonnage is available for late December delivery.

One Iskenderun-based mill cut its wire rod price by $40/mt to $840/mt ex-works yesterday for February deliveries. Another mill in the region is currently offering wire rod at higher prices for January delivery. Most buyers are delaying new purchases in order to monitor the import scrap price trend.
