Today, January 16, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 100-150/mt ($4-7/mt) compared to Thursday, January 12, amid currency fluctuations and sluggish demand. Some local traders believe that the rebar prices may fall further against the backdrop of sluggish demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 15,500-15,700/mt or $699-708/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas has kept its official rebar price stable at $730/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Izmir and Marmara region are offering their official rebar prices at $710-730/mt ex-works. Sources report special discounts are applicable for serious buyers. The 2023 Investment Program released in Turkey’s Official Gazette today is an important talking point for the demand side.
In the Iskenderun region, one re-roller had opened its rebar sales today at TRY 15,700/mt ($708/mt) ex-warehouse and closed its rebar sales in the afternoon.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
