Today, March 16, spot prices in the Turkish domestic rebar market have decreased by TRY 30-100/mt amid currency fluctuations and weak demand, with just minor changes seen in prices on US dollar basis. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 5,400-5,500/mt or $611-622/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
The general rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions has fallen by $5/mt to $635-650/mt ex-works today, with prices still quoted on US dollar basis at the current exchange rate.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt A.S. has opened its rebar sales at TRY 5,700/mt ex-works ($645/mt) ex-works, down by TRY 50/mt ($1/mt) today.
Some local traders are applying agressive pricing in order to generate sales, while most buyers are delaying new purchases until the Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision due on Thursday, March 18.
