Today, January 7, spot prices in the local Turkish rebar market have increased by TRY 20/mt ($5/mt) in the Iskenderun and Izmir regions, while decreasing by TRY 30/mt in the Karabuk region, with minor changes on US dollar basis amid currency fluctuations. Only rebar prices in the Marmara region have moved sideways on lira basis, up by $2-3/mt on dollar basis today. As of today, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 5,470-5,580/mt or $634-647/mt ex-warehouse depending on the region.
Icdas has decreased its rebar price by TRY 50/mt to TRY 5,560/mt ($645/mt) ex-works, down by $2/mt compared to early this morning. In the Marmara region, rebar prices have settled at TRY 5,695-5,735/mt ($660-665/mt) ex-works today.
In the Izmir region, Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has set its rebar price at TRY 5,695/mt ($660/mt) ex-works.
However, some local rebar buyers are refraining from new purchases due to the sharp daily currency fluctuations.
