Over the past week, local Turkish official merchant bar prices have risen by an average of TRY 95/mt ($3/mt) in the Karabuk region, while remaining unchanged in the rest of the country, against the backdrop of sluggish demand. One Iskenderun-based mill has kept its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,600/mt ($615/mt) ex-works, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for September-October delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. The general sentiment as regards demand is negative and most buyers are monitoring the import scrap price trend.
