Over the past week, Turkish domestic official merchant bar prices have fallen by TRY 300-850/mt ($14-35/mt on US dollar basis, against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import billet segment and sluggish demand. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,850/mt ($644/mt) ex-works, falling TRY 300/mt ($14/mt) over the same period.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for late July-August delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks.
Most local merchant bar re-rollers stop sending list prices, instead quote their prices on the customer basis. Sources report additional discounts are applicable for the serious buyers. The general sentiment on the demand side is negative for now.
