Over the past week, Turkish merchant bar producers have increased their official domestic prices by TRY 300-500/mt ($6-10/mt) amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and higher costs of labor. In addition, the recent customs duty decision for imported merchant bar has contributed to the upward trend. Effective as of January 1, 2026, the customs duty on imports of some I, U and H sections has been increased from 17 percent to 25 percent.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 26,300/mt ($611/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 300/mt ($6/mt) over the past week.
Most merchant bar sellers are still offering either for deliveries in February or from stocks, depending on the size.
