Over the past week, Turkish merchant bar producers have kept their domestic prices stable in the local currency with only minor changes on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 26,000/mt ($611/mt) ex-works today, December 10, stable on Turkish lira basis with a drop of only $2/mt in US dollars week on week. Sources report a few merchant bar re-rollers are applying aggressive pricing and giving additional discount for serious buyers in order to generate cash as the year is about to end.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for deliveries in January or from stocks, depending on the size.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode until the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due tomorrow.
