Domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey have increased slightly. Turkish merchant bar producers have increased their offers for the local market by TRY 40-100/mt as compared to SteelOrbis’ report published two weeks ago to TRY 2,850-3,130/mt ($523-574/mt) ex-works.
Despite the ongoing weakness in demand in the local Turkish merchant bar market, domestic merchant bar quotations have moved up with the influence of higher scrap prices seen in recent deals, and also due to the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Market sources state that these factors will continue to impact the local Turkish merchant bar market, providing support for prices to remain at current levels or even to increase slightly.
