Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have fallen by TRY 100-300/mt ($8-15/mt) against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations, sluggish demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap prices.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,600/mt ($590/mt) ex-works today, falling by $15/mt from a week ago.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for November delivery, or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 23,600/mt ($839/mt), ex-works for delivery in the Karabuk region, falling by TRY 200/mt ($13/mt), SteelOrbis has heard. According to sources, buyers exert for further discounts due to the unclear financial situation in the country.
