In the past two weeks, local Turkish merchant bar prices have mainly decreased with the largest drop seen in the Denizli and Izmir regions. In the meantime, suppliers in the Karabuk and Iskenderun regions have decreased their domestic prices only slightly, while reflecting a minor change in the US dollar equivalent in Karabuk region. As a result, the merchant bar offers in the market have evened out, while previously the gap between the prices in the different regions was larger, mainly due to different billet costs.
Most merchant bar re-rollers are offering for late August-early September delivery, while limited tonnage is also available from stocks. An Izmir-based mill is currently offering HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at around $940-950/mt ex-works.
