SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

615-628

Thrace

608-620

Izmir

608-616

Iskenderun

590-600

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, wire rod prices in the local Turkish market are in the range of $590-628/mt ex-works, excluding VAT, while transaction activity is quite weak. Turkish wire rod buyers have been evaluating both domestic and import offers, while ex-CIS wire rod offers to Turkey are in the range of $570-580/mt CFR. Additionally, the flow of Chinese wire rod to the Turkish market still continues, with offers from China to Turkey decreasing over the past two weeks to $485-490/mt CFR.

Market sources state that Turkish wire rod producers are worried given the big difference between the prices of locally produced wire rod and those of Chinese wire rod. On the other hand, with scrap prices decreasing by $12-13/mt over the past two weeks, the downward pressure on Turkish wire rod producers' prices has increased and market sources expect their wire rod prices to be revised again in the coming period.
