Turkey’s merchant bar export prices move up

Turkish merchant bar producers have been influenced by the uptrend of import scrap and billet quotations recorded over the past two weeks. Despite the weakness of demand, Turkish merchant bar mills have increased their export offers by $50/mt in total over the past two weeks due to higher production costs. Market sources state that Turkish mills are receiving price inquiries for merchant bar from Africa but it is also reported that Turkish mills’ new merchant bar export offers have failed to gain full acceptance for now.
