Today, September 15, Turkey’s Kardemir, opened its rebar sales for a couple of hours and then closed them after selling around 71,750 mt.

The company opened its rebar sales at TRY 5,530/mt ($654/mt) ex-works, excluding VAT, today, cutting its rebar price by TRY 95/mt ($13/mt) compared to its previous list price dated Wednesday, August 18.

The general official rebar price range in Turkey was at $660-680/mt ex-works excluding VAT depending on the region yesterday. As a result, Kardemir succeeded in selling a high volume due to its aggressive pricing policy, with the producer’s rebar price slightly below the general range in the local market, and also due to its advantageous payment terms. Sources report additional tonnages may be available, though this has not been confirmed by the time of publication.
