Turkey’s Kardemir opens wire rod sales after a long break

Today, March 3, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir opened its domestic wire rod sales after a long break. According to sources, the producer has succeeded in selling around 13.300 mt. The company’s billet sales have remained closed.

Accordingly, Kardemir’s new prices for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod were at TRY 5,310/mt ($726/mt) ex-works, while its 6-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade was being offered at TRY 5,235/mt ($716/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 673/mt ($73-74/mt) compared to its previous price list dated February 9.

The general domestic wire rod price range in Turkey is standing at $720-750/mt ex-works on March 3. According to sources, one Iskenderun-based mill is offering $727/mt ex-works. Kardemir’s wire rod price is close to the lower end of the general domestic price range, with advantageous payment terms.
