Turkey’s Kardemir opens its rebar sales

Today, June 24, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir opened its rebar sales.

Kardemir opened its rebar sales at TRY 6,140/mt ($709/mt) ex-works. As usual, the offer was valid for 500 mt and above orders, for cash payment, with a 25 percent initial cash payment and payment deferral for up to 90 days, with an additional 1.5 percent to be paid for each month of deferred payment.

Although Turkish mills’ general rebar price range was at $720-730/mt ex-works yesterday, most mills sold small tonnages of rebar at $695/mt and $700/mt ex-works in the Izmir region this week, and so Kardemir’s rebar price is a bit high for the market and some local traders are refraining from new purchases as they believe import scrap prices may fall in the short term. No fresh sale has been heard for now.
