Turkey’s Kardemir opened its rebar sales at TRY 19,710/mt ($555/mt), excluding VAT, at noon, today, January 16, and closed them after just a couple of hours, having sold around 30,000 mt due to its advantageous payment terms. The producer’s price indicated a decrease of TRY 140/mt ($14/mt) compared to Wednesday, December 11.
Sources report that the workable rebar prices in Turkey’s Marmara and Izmir regions, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, vary at $550-560/mt ex-works.
Kardemir was selling its rebar at yesterday’s Turkish Central Bank-based exchange rate of $1 = TRY 35.49.
