The Timken Company raises tags on special bar quality products

Canton, Ohio-based steel manufacturer, The Timken Company, has announced an increase in non-contract base prices for all special bar quality (SBQ) products depending on size and product specifications as follows:

12-inch size bars and smaller:

Hot-rolled bars: an increase of $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt)
Single thermal treatment bars: an increase of $2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt)
Quench and temper bars: an increase of $3.00 cwt. ($66/mt or $60/nt)

Greater than 12-inch size bars:

Hot-rolled bars: an increase of $3.00 cwt. ($66/mt or $60/nt)
Single thermal treatment bars: an increase of $3.50 cwt. ($77/mt or $70/nt)
Quench and temper bars: an increase of $4.00 cwt. ($88/mt or $80/nt)

These price increases are effective with shipments beginning on Mar. 1, 2011, and apply only to non-contract pricing. Raw material surcharges remain in effect.
