Supply continues to exceed demand in local Italian rebar market

This week, local Italian producers' domestic prices for 14-26 mm rebar are at €425-435/mt ($497-509/mt) ex-works, virtually unchanged compared to the period before the Christmas holidays. The New Year has not brought any good news to the market. Although some local steelmakers such as Stefana are not producing because of the difficulties they are facing, domestic rebar supply remains quite high in comparison with the very slack demand seen in the local market.
