Even though the overall outlook for the Romanian domestic longs market has remained depressing, this week's slightly better business activity has encouraged Romania's sole manufacturer of rebar to increase its prices. As a result, Romanian rebar traders have also decided to raise their offers slightly, but, according to market participants, the rise has not resulted in any noticeable increase in demand.
According to reports over the past week, the price of rebar from Romania's sole producer has risen by €20/mt to €595-600/mt ex-works. Similarly, Romanian rebar traders have increased their rebar prices, by €10-15/mt week on week to €580-600/mt ex-warehouse.
Meanwhile, in the wire rod segment, offers have remained unchanged compared to the last week, since there is still insufficient demand, which has made it difficult for traders to increase their prices. As a consequence, most traders’ offers have remained at around €570-580/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, in the import segment, it was reported earlier in the week that ex-Moldova offers for rebar were unchanged at €580/mt CPT, while ex-Bulgaria offers were heard at €610-620/mt CPT. Furthermore, Egypt has maintained its rebar and wire rod offers for November shipment at €565-580/mt CFR. Similarly, Greece's rebar and wire rod offers have remained stable week on week at €595-600/mt CFR and €605-610/mt CFR, respectively. Also, Italy's rebar offers are stable week on week at €550-560/mt FOB, which is around €590-600/mt CFR Romania.
