Considering persistently low end-user demand, most Romanian-based traders have maintained their offers unchanged, while the sole local rebar producer and certain traders have made attempts to offer slightly higher prices in order to evaluate the market reaction. Nevertheless, according to market participants, construction projects have been slower as well, as customers are uninterested in active business activities because of financial difficulties and also the upcoming summer vacation period.
Over the past weeks, Romanian rebar spot prices have mainly remained unchanged from the previous week at around €550-595/mt ex-warehouse, with some traders attempting to offer prices similar to or higher than €600-610/mt ex-warehouse.
In contrast, Romania's sole rebar producer has tried to raise its offers by €10-15/mt from prior weeks to €580-585/mt ex-works. Meanwhile, according to sources, despite the increase, the sole producer has a shortage of availability and only sells extremely small quantities of material, while offering large discounts and lowering the price range in the domestic market.
On the other hand, Romanian-based traders in the wire rod segment have continued to keep their prices stable week on week at €570-600/mt ex-warehouse, since the market situation is still negative.
Moreover, this week has seen some offers in the import segment. As a result, ex-Moldova rebar offers have remained stable at €590-600/mt CPT, while Bulgarian offers have climbed by €25-30/mt from last week to €610-620/mt CPT. In addition, Egypt has reduced its rebar and wire rod offers by €10-15/mt to €560-570/mt CFR for August shipment.
