As of today, January 5, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have risen by TRY 100-200/mt on Turkish lira basis with only minor changes on US dollar basis, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to December 29. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,600-29,700/mt ($554-575/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 43.03.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş' prices, have settled at $560-585/mt ex-works, up by $5/mt, while acceptable prices have risen by $5/mt to $555-580/mt ex-works, over the same period.
Two Iskenderun-based mills have set their official rebar prices at TRY 29,000/mt ($562/mt) ex-works today. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 28,700-28,800/mt ($556-558/mt) ex-warehouse, versus 28,500/mt ($553/mt) ex-warehouse on December 29.
One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, January 12.
