Rebar spot offers in Turkey mostly stable with minor regional adjustments

As of today, December 4, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained stable in the local currency with only minor changes on US dollar basis, apart from falling by TRY 400/mt ($7-8/mt) in the Iskenderun region due to the aggressive pricing policy in the region.  Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 29,000-29,900/mt ($569-587/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 42.44.

Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have settled at $575-600/mt ex-works, stable since the beginning of this week, while acceptable prices are at $570-585/mt ex-works, also stable over the same period. Producers in the Marmara region are testing rebar sales at $595-600/mt ex-works for late December delivery, SteelOrbis has heard.

Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 28,900-29,100/mt ($567-571/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 300/mt ($6/mt) over the same period.

Most local buyers have already stocked material, while problems regarding availability of sizes in the local market seem to have eased lately. [JF1] This prevents rebar spot prices from increasing higher despite the firmness of import scrap prices.
