As of today, December 25, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have fallen by TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt) against the aggressive pricing policy in the İzmir and Karabuk regions, while remaining unchanged in the rest of the country, compared to December 22. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,400-29,600/mt ($553-576/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 42.83.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have still settled at $555-585/mt, while acceptable prices are also at $550-580/mt ex-works, stable over the same period. Producers in the Marmara region are still offering for late January delivery.
Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 28,500/mt ($555/mt) ex-warehouse, also remained flat compared to December 22.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative ahead of the end of the year.
