Rebar prices have increased further in the Italian domestic market in the past week, coming closer to €760/mt ex-works, which is equivalent to €500/mt ex-works net of size extras. In fact, sources told SteelOrbis that the latest sales were closed at levels of €740-750/mt ex-works, up €10/mt compared to last week, amid low supply, especially for diameters under 16 mm, good demand, and rising scrap prices. Meanwhile, some sources underlined that several local buyers are struggling to keep up with the latest price increases. The situation is said to be the same in other European countries, despite the current downtrend in the global long steel market.
