Sales of rebar by distributors in Sao Paulo are currently negotiated at BRL 4,514/mt ($1,304/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, local sources told SteelOrbis.
The price, referring to the CA-50 grade, 10 mm thickness product, is unchanged in BRL terms over one month. The price also refers to very small tonnages, as higher volumes or direct sales by producers are usually entitled to significant discounts.
With such high domestic prices, Brazil imported in March 3,400 mt of rebar from Turkey at $556/mt, FOB conditions.
The last rebar offer, received this week from China by Brazilian importers, was priced at $560/mt, unchanged over one month. The price refers to the QC/HRB400 grade, CFR conditions in a port in the south and southeast coast of Brazil.
