According to market sources, Turkish producers’ domestic billet prices have increased by $8/mt on average over the past week to $315-325/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT, and for November delivery. Turkish producers stated that they have had to revise their billet prices upwards, following the uptrend of import scrap prices and increased import scrap bookings in Turkey. This week, demand and inquiries for domestic billet have increased in Turkey’s Marmara region, while demand is on the weak side in the Iskenderun region since finished steel demand is rather slack. Meanwhile, Chinese billet offers to Turkey are at $260-265/mt CFR, while ex-CIS billet offers have increased by $10/mt during the past week to $285-290/mt CFR Turkey
