It is observed that demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has remained at low levels over the past week. Market sources state that wire rod buyers in Turkey are cautious, concluding purchases only in line with their needs due to the high depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Additionally, Turkish buyers are not expected to restock wire rod amid the approaching Feast of Sacrifice holiday which will last a full week starting from August 20. However, Turkish wire rod producers’ order books are fairly full as a result of the demand received from the European Union after the EU’s quota decision. Accordingly, Turkish wire rod producers have kept their domestic prices stable week on week.
