The price of domestic Mexican wire rod fell US$40/mt-ex mill during the last two weeks, to reach $552/mt ex-mill.

The low expectations of growth in the short and long term to a weak increase in economic activity in the construction sector caused the builder confidence index to drop to 49 points in the second quarter of 2015, its third consecutive decline.

Combined with the currency exchange between the peso and the US dollar, the scenario has led to low prices at the local and international level, steel industry sources said.
