Mexican domestic steel beam IPR (ASTM-A6) prices fell by about US$4/mt in the last two weeks to reach US$882/mt ex-mill.  Meanwhile, in the same period prices of steel beam I (ASTM-A36) remained unchanged at US$868/mt ex-mill.

Although economic indicators for the second quarter in Mexico were not entirely positive, some economic sources affirm that several companies have announced investments to build new factories or expand their facilities.

Additionally, energy sector-related construction prospects are looking bright: General Electric announced that it will invest US$51 million to launch the Parque Eólico Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon.

As for other manufacturing, 3M will build two new manufacturing facilities to produce various products. It will invest in the country about US$400 million over the next three years.
