Turkish producers’ domestic merchant bar prices have indicated a drastic decrease on US dollar basis compared to the levels seen in the market two weeks back, as a result of the general downturn in the market and the significant decline in consumption. However, import scrap prices in the most recent deep sea deals to Turkey have rebounded sharply, thus creating some positive movement in the finished steel market also. Some Turkish merchant bar producers have increased their offers in the middle of the current week by TRY 50/mt ($3-4/mt) and some further upward movements may be seen shortly, SteelOrbis understands. For now, Turkish merchant bar producers are in wait-and-see more.
