Demand in the local Turkish rebar market, which was already slack at the beginning of this week, has remained sluggish, with buyers making booking only to meet their immediate needs. As a result of the strengthening of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, prices in the local Turkish rebar market have decreased by TRY 30-60/mt week on week. Market sources state that ex-Iran rebar offers to the Iskenderun region are below 3,000 TRY/mt, including VAT, and this situation is negatively impacting Turkish rebar supplies to the region. Furthermore, due to lower rebar price offers from Iran, rebar prices in Turkey’s Iskenderun region have decreased more compared to prices in other regions in Turkey.
