Longs prices in Bulgaria decrease, demand silent

Local Bulgarian prices for long products have decreased significantly over the past month amid the negative sentiment in the scrap segment and lower demand in August among the holiday season in the European Union. “Demand was quite good in July, while it seems to have been slowing down in the last few days. Stock levels are low to medium for now,” a source mentioned.

In the import segment, ex-Turkey merchant bar export prices are still available at around €670/mt ($792/mt) CIF Bulgaria for September shipment, equal to around $770/mt FOB, while ex-Italy beam prices are around €975/mt CIF Bulgaria for the same shipment term. “There is some decrease on the part of EU mills, down €15/mt or €20/mt from last month,” a source mentioned.
