Discounts, provided by Turkish rebar sellers; have failed to boost sales to the EU as the remaining quota for Turkish rebar is at around 29,288 mt and 2,566 mt of rebar waiting in the EU ports for customs procedures. As a result, there was no interest in $415-425/mt FOB from Turkey. In the UK workable rebar offers were heard at $420-425/mt FOB, but the buyers are not willing to pay 25% safeguard duty.

The wire rod to be shipped in October has been available at $455-465/mt FOB. According to the sources, Turkish mills have concluded a deal to Israel for 1,500mt wire rod and a deal to Congo for 3,000 mt respectively, at $460/mt FOB for October shipment. In the EU the remaining quota for Turkish wire rod stands at around 117,846 mt out of 312,081 mt, leaving some space for the sales. However, the bids, specifically from the UK, are at around $430-445/mt FOB.
