Local Turkish wire rod prices pulled down by weaker scrap prices

Local Turkish wire rod prices have decreased by $2.5-10/mt on average over the past week due to currency fluctuations and weaker scrap prices. Most Turkish mills are trying to keep their US dollar-based offer prices firm. However, special discounts are applicable for serious buyers.

“Most local wire rod customers are on hold for new purchases as they are watching the exchange rate closely and demand is relatively slow after the long holiday period,” one source told SteelOrbis.

Most mills are offering wire rod for late September-early October deliveries.
