Turkish domestic wire rod prices have followed diverse trends. A few mills are attempting to increase their wire rod prices amid higher production costs and ongoing export bookings, while most mills are giving special discounts for serious buyers to generate sales. Most Turkish mills are offering for October delivery, while a limited tonnage is available for delivery from stocks depending on the size and quality.
One Iskenderun-based mill increased its official wire rod price by $10/mt to $740/mt ex-works yesterday, September 13, and has kept its wire rod price stable today. Another mill in the Iskenderun region is not quoting any wire rod price as it is carrying out maintenance works.
Most local buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment.
