Today, December 16, local wire rod prices in some regions of Turkey have increased by $20-25/mt since last Friday due to the price rise seen in the latest couple of import scrap deals. In addition, most Turkish mills are expected to increase their wire rod prices further. Sources expect offers will rise above $700/mt ex-works, while even a few mills have already started offering $720/mt in the Iskenderun region, due to higher raw material costs. Local Turkish wire rod buyers are in wait-and-see mode and only purchase in line with their daily needs for now.
