Turkish mills have mainly kept their domestic rebar prices stable on US dollar basis, while adjusting their prices in Turkish liras amid ongoing currency fluctuations. Some producers, particularly in the Marmara region, have preferred to soften their offers, while, coupled with the overall current demand situation following the recent short holiday, the latest price rise in import scrap deals has not yet been reflected in current local rebar offers.
Official dollar-based rebar offers and workable prices from mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş, have fallen by $5/mt on the lower end to $595-615/mt ex-works and $590-610/mt ex-works, respectively, as compared to April 30. One Izmir-based mill has set its official rebar price at TRY 32,400/mt ($597/mt) ex-works today, May 4, indicating a decrease of TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) over the same period.
An Iskenderun region-based mill set its official rebar price today at TRY 32,100/mt ($592/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) in order to offset currency fluctuations, compared to April 30. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills have set their rebar prices today, for serious buyers and cash payment, at TRY 31,700-31,900/mt ($584-588/mt) ex-warehouse, with a decrease of TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt) over the same period.
Currently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market in Turkey are in the range of TRY 31,900-32,700/mt ($588-603/mt) ex-warehouse, down by only TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) on the lower end compared to April 30.
