Over the past week, local Turkish official merchant bar prices have decreased by TRY 550-600/mt ($21-22/mt) in the Izmir and Denizli regions. In addition, the merchant bar prices in the Karabuk and Iskenderun regions have risen by TRY 150-160/mt ($6/mt) over the same period. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,800/mt ($624/mt) ex-works, versus 16,700/mt ($620/mt) ex-works a week ago.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for August delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks.
Most local buyers are still exerting pressure for additional discounts and a few merchant bar re-rollers are applying aggressive pricing to generate sales, SteelOrbis has heard.
