Over the past week, Turkish domestic official merchant bar prices have mainly risen by TRY 200-300/mt ($6-10/mt) except Iskenderun region, which remaining unchanged in the local currency. One Iskenderun-based mill has kept its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,600/mt ($614/mt) ex-works. Sources report a few merchant bar re-rollers are applying aggressive pricing policy and giving sizeable discounts for serious buyers only.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for late September-October delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. Most local buyers are taking their time for new purchases ahead of Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision and the high interest rates for bank loans, which have squeezed the cash flow in the market.
