Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have mostly fallen by TRY 85-250/mt ($10-17/mt), while remaining unchanged in the local currency in the Iskenderun region with a decrease of $7/mt on US dollar basis, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand. One Iskenderun-based mill has kept its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,600/mt ($615/mt) ex-works, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for September-October delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. The general sentiment is negative on the demand side and additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at $740/mt ex-works.
